Terry RICHARDSON. be terrific.
Terry Richardson is an international celebrity as well as one of the most prolific and compelling photographers of his generation. Known for his uncanny ability to cut to the raw essence of whomever appears before his lens, Mr. Richardson’s vision is at once humorous, tragic, often beautiful, and always provocative.
Born in New York City and raised in Hollywood, Terry began photographing his environment while attending Hollywood High School and playing in a punk rock band. And he hasn’t stopped shooting since. Terry has lensed campaigns for such clients as Gucci, Sisley, Miu Miu, Chloe.
His editorial work has appeared in magazines such as French Vogue, British Vogue, i-D, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar and Purple, and his impressive list of subjects includes Daniel Day Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Vincent Gallo, Tom Ford, Jay Z, Kanye West, Johnny Knoxville, Karl Lagerfeld, Pharell Williams and many others.
Terry’s work has been the subject of numerous group and one man shows throughout the world, and he has published a selection of books, throughout the world, and he ha published a selection of books, beginning with Hysteric Glamour in 1998, and stretching through his career until his most recent work, a retrospective from Taschen, entitled Terryworld 25th Anniversary Edition.
Terry’s work spans a variety of mediums: he has shot music videos and commercials and is currently working on his first feature film.
Whatever the medium, Terry Richardson continues to prove that he is a true American Original.

Una settimana di shooting improvvisati fino alle due del mattino, perché lui lavora così: come e quando gli pare. Scatta mentre mangi, mentre dormi, e può capitare che ti chieda gentilmente di sdraiarti in una pozza di fango che l’ha colpito mentre ci passava accanto con il fuoristrada.

non vado pazza per il buon Karl. sì per quando riguarda la moda, no per determinate cose che dichiara. ma non starò qui a scrivere cose noiose.
il 15 di novembre 2009 sarà possibile acquistare la figure di Karl Lagerfeld (10″ – 129euro). il toy è carino. ahahaha è uguale a lui.
forse mi piace un bel po’ perchè amo tokidoki e Simone Legno. eeeh già. è tutto così adorabile **
beh, che dire. sicuramente i 1.000 pezzi verrano fatti fuori in poco tempo, quindi se lo volete impegnatevi! in bocca al lupo per chi lo desidera tantotantotanto.

DARYL BANKS. up to you.
here we go after the break, welcome back ladies and gentlemen with a new artist/photographer. his name is Daryl Banks.
these are some of his recent works. dando un’occhiata alle sue foto trovo siano molto interessanti.
va da botte di colore molto vivaci.
passa dai colori tenui e neutri.
all’accostamento di colori complementari. questi scatti in particolare fanno parte della serie Crinoline Flowers.
l’impostazione moda si nota molto. il suo è un tentativo di attraversare i confini tra moda e arte. certo è che moda e arte possono essere sì considerate due cose vicine, ma non quando si parla di scatti commerciali dove è il prodotto che deve essere al centro dell’attenzione, e non l’estro e lo stile troppo personale del fotografo (a meno che non si parli di nomi davvero importanti).
ammetto che quest’ultima possibilità non mi dispiace affatto, ma ovviamente gli ambienti, commerciale ed artistico, hanno fini completamente diversi.

TIM BURTON, welcome to MOMA.
Eventually! Tim Burton al MOMA a New York (qui la pagina dell’exhibition).
dal 22 novembre al 26 aprile 2010, il museo di arte moderna più famoso d’America ospiterà oltre 700 tra disegni, storyboard, dipinti realizzati in quasi trent’anni di carriera. le opere sono concepite come tali e non come materiali preparatori ai suoi film.
la tecnica è la sua, potrebbero sembrare solo schizzi, in realtà non lo sono.
…e facciamo anche che me la tiro nera: ad aprile dovrei volare a NYC e se non ce la facessi sapere che mi potrei perdere pure la mostra del buon Tim (inversamente potrei dire: vado a NY e mi becco pure la mostra! wow!), beh un po’ mi tira il culo.

STREET view #01.
His name is Elbow-Toe. ed è l’ennesima scoperta per me.
fa parte del Wooster Collective, una grande crew di Soho che si prodiga per la libertà nella street art. street art, l’arte nei luoghi pubblici. spesso illegale. non parlo di imbrattare muri, parlo di arte (che ha comunque un significato troppo vasto).
a livello tecnico si serve normalmente della xilografia, dello stencil e realizza grandi disegni con la carbonella. utilizza gli spazi pubblici come palcoscenici per mettere in scena momenti privati. è uno stile unico, decisamente poco invasivo.
citazioni tratte dalle favole per bambini, titoli ad effetto e quasi concettualmente elaborati.
queste cose mi colpiscono. sono arte, ed è l’arte che “sta bene” con la città. ci convive e mi rende paranoica, perchè molte volte non si fa notare e solo un buon occhio la riconosce.
che la caccia al tesoro abbia inizio.

WEEKEND – tyler shields.
l’ho scoperto con Zachary Quinto. e da li non l’ho più lasciato. mi piace leggere il suo blog, non ci scrive granchè, ma sono pezzi di vita e li ritengo importanti. sì per farmi i cazzi suoi.
li conclude tutti con una domanda. prima o poi rispondo pure io.
per ora vi agevolo le ultime foto sue che mi hanno colpito, sono ambigue e allo stesso tempo divertenti. secondo me.
non voglio commenti scadenti sui richiami sessuali.
il suo portfolio è molto interessante e vi invito a dargli un’occhiata.
la fotografia è già una tecnica affascinante per conto suo, vedere in quanti modi può essere utilizzata, manipolata e modellata è assolutamente fantastico.lui è molto particolare, a tratti strano -se strano me lo passate come termine.
foto come queste qui sopra, come ritratti di modelle stratosferiche, come di paesaggi wannabe incantati, come di qualsiasi cosa vogliate e rispecchi i vostri gusti estetici, hanno qualcosa di speciale che le rende belle al nostro sguardo (anche se uno può essere più o meno sensibile alla bellezza). non c’è qualcosa di bello o brutto in maniera assoluta. emmenomale.
aspiranti fotografi (se è una passione, un pò come la mia) ci vuole occhio. la frase “son tutti capaci a -fare- una foto così” è fastidiosissima. non è vero.
Tyler Shields è un fotografo professionista di LA conosciuto per i suoi lavori in campo pubblicitario e per le numerose collaborazioni con personaggi noti.

Normally I will release 1 or 2 photos today I have 3 and a video all in one blog! “Awakened”
In “Awakened” LaChapelle presents us anonymous and common people playing the role of biblical characters Jonah, Jesse, Judith, Sarah -, immersed in water, in a levitating state. The beautiful illumination, their expressions, the wightlessness of the clothes, all that contributes to introduce the viewer into a welcoming mystical dimension. These works confirm a deep emotional involvement regarding trascendent themes, the presence of the divine in the daily life and the idea of the sublime.

This section takes its title from the artist’s latest book, published by Taschen, which concludes the trilogy that began with LaChapelle
Land, 1996, and Hotel – LaChapelle, 1999. It presents a series of three photos dealing with the theme of everyday death scenes in contrast to the most famous of all death scenes, the Pieta. LaChapelle portrays the death of an average man in the arms of an average woman in the position of this religious scene repeated countless times throughout in art history.

Deluge, inspired by The Deluge painted by Michelangelo for the Sistine Chapel, is a criticism of the consumer race, the decline of such universal values as kindness and empathy, and the growing attachment to material goods. In Museum, the art system and the idea of art ownership is the object of LaChapelle’s criticism; in Cathedral he denounces the loss of spiritual value and finally in the Awakened series LaChapelle affirms that the road to universal rebirth passes through individual destiny.
